Even historians can’t name the exact date of establishing first gambling venues. Analogues of modern dice were found in table tombs of ancient Egyptians, and the Roman Empire aristocracy were hurrying up to mineral resorts where gambling was the main entertainment.

The grand show, conducted in Roman Coliseums, contributed to establishing betting pools where old and young were betting on gladiators and winners of chariot rides.

Asia and America also didn’t stay on the sidelines. Gambling was succeeding in Ancient China, India, among Maya and the Incas. Chinese meditators thought that gambling had developed wisdom.

Later, gambling came over pubs and turned into the regular leisure activity for commonality. It was also popular among pirates with stolen treasures being at stake.

First mentions of casino

It is commonly believed that the first venue vaguely reminding a modern casino was Ridotto, flying its doors open for visitors in 1638 in Italian Venice. The venue was for aristocrats, coming to the city to the carnival, which included gambling tournaments.

The gambling house was established by the government. The main target was gambling control. Practically, it was the first precedent of the attempt to regulate gambling business. The fact that the venue was established in the left wing of the church was also significant.

The first French gambling house was established at the order of Cardinal Mazarini, aiming to fill kings’ treasury. The roulette was invented at that time, as well. None of respectable venues could even imagine its operation without this game.

Gambling venues were established across the whole Old World. But casinos have been banned in Europe since 1873. The only country that didn’t join this ban was Monaco with its currently famous Monte Carlo.

Modern history

North America frontiers men brought gambling to the continent. Popular in the Wild West, saloons offered visitors casino services. In the 19th century, the US gambling business grew largely; casinos were like mushrooms after the rain.

Within the Great Depression, private high stack blackjack and poker games have been succeeded in black bootleggers’ venues and sometimes such entertainments have ended with shooting and inevitable victims. The U.S. government had to ban casinos in 1932. Since then, the American gambling zone has been Nevada and Las Vegas turned into the pilgrimage center of gambling lovers. The first large entertainment complex similar to the one we used to see now was established in 1946.

China and Russia also adopted the idea of establishing gambling venues. The PRC selected Macauregionas the gambling area. The gambling zone includes dozens of entertainment complexes equipped, according to the latest technological achievements. At the same time, the peninsula became the largest tourist center of China.

Russia has banned casinos since 2009. Before the taboo, the gambling business has been rapidly developing in the country. Slot machines were in actively visited places. Later, there were large complexes, offering gambling among other entertainments.

Henceforth, all casinos stopped their work and moved to four gambling zones identified by the government. Several venues have already received visitors, while others are at the design and construction stage.

Although gambling demonization followers don’t miss a chance to obtain a new gambling business ban, the industry exists and keeps growing. New technologies allow casinos to settle down on the Internet and embrace a broad audience of those who love risking and winning big.

Interesting is the fact that gambling nature is an integral part of the human being, which means bans can’t overcome it. The evidence is constantly updating portfolios of leading brands, development of the gaming content and design of innovative products.
