Yesterday, the gaming regulatory body in Great Britain, UKGC, opened a public consultation regarding the usage of plastic money when placing bets on the Internet. That is due to the Commission’s concerns on the possibility that players may experience compulsive gambling when playing in debt.

In 2017, the Gambling Commission reported that gambling market revenue increased by 10%. For this reason, the regulator thinks over an urgent need to restrict or even prohibit betting with credit cards to hold British citizens harmless from potential problem gambling and huge debts.

According to the CEO of the Gambling Commission, Neil MacArthur, the proposals are aimed at preventing minors and players at risk from a craving for online gaming. Thus, it is important to explore approaches and measures towards safer gambling through asking operators, stakeholders and everyone involved in the iGaming industry to express their opinion on the issue.
